APFL : Alliance Platform leader
Big Module : A standardized architecture area consisting of volumes, positions, and interfaces of major components. The goal is to promote the standardization of these components between vehicles. There are 5 "Big Modules" : the engine compartement, the cockpit, the front underbody, the rear underbody, and the electric/electronic architecture.
CMF : A "Common Module Family" is a family of platforms covering one or more segments and sharing common "Big Modules". This approach increases the effects of scale and reduces the cost of developing new vehicles.
Component : A part or a set of parts designed to be integrated on a maximum number of vehicles.
HPDP : High Product Dependent Part
LPDP : Low Product Dependent Part
PFL : Platform Leader
Platform : Rolling chassis and main cockpit parts not visible to the customer. A platform is made up of a combination of 5 big modules.
System : A set of components and software that fulfil a function in the vehicle. For example, the "fuel system" goes from the filler flap to the instrument panel through the fuel tank and the fuel and engine hoses.
